Robert Pattinson Says His Batman Is Unlikely to Join James Gunn's DC Universe
Robert Pattinson has essentially shut the door on his version of Batman ever joining James Gunn's interconnected DC Universe. In a recent interview with LADbible, the actor explained why he thinks the crossover would be difficult to pull off.
Pattinson said his Bruce Wayne is so deeply tied to the specific, dark world director Matt Reeves created that it's hard to imagine him existing outside of it. He described the experience of filming "The Batman" as being in the dark for months, both literally and in mood, and said it was a destabilizing process that affects you.
He also joked that Gotham City was actually a shed in Watford, England, highlighting the insular nature of the production. According to the report on /Film, Pattinson suggested the long, immersive shoots make it tough to see his Bruce Wayne popping up alongside characters like David Corenswet's Superman.
Meanwhile, the official DC Universe is developing its own separate Batman for a film titled "The Brave and the Bold," though no casting has been announced. Pattinson will next return as the Dark Knight in "The Batman: Part II," which is currently filming and is set for release in February 2028.
