Rockstar calls GTA 6 leaks 'heartbreaking' in official statement
Rockstar Games has finally spoken out about the flood of leaked Grand Theft Auto 6 footage. In a statement released on August 26, the developer said the situation has been "heartbreaking for our team," according to GameSpot.
The statement, shared on social media, was an uncharacteristic apology. Rockstar expressed regret over the game's lengthy development and their own lack of transparency with fans. Per VGC, the statement read, "It would be an understatement to say that having videos of Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay leak in this way has been heartbreaking for our team."
The leaks, attributed to a group called CyberLeek, included numerous gameplay videos. ScreenRant reports the footage revealed parts of the open world, including coastal areas, retail locations, and adult-oriented venues.
Rockstar also warned that "the intended game experience may now be impacted by some spoilers." The company is now looking ahead to its own planned gameplay reveal, stating they are determined to "exceed your expectations" for the final product launching November 19.
