Sandra Bullock breaks silence on partner Bryan Randall's death from ALS
Sandra Bullock has publicly discussed the death of her partner, photographer Bryan Randall, for the first time. Speaking on the Smartless podcast, the actress revealed Randall asked her to keep his ALS diagnosis a secret, a request she honored.
Per Variety, Bullock said the secrecy isolated her. She told hosts Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett that her sister was the only person who knew for a long time. "He asked me not to share. I know why he asked me not to," Bullock said.
TheWrap reports Bullock described the experience as traumatic. She said caring for Randall while raising her two children during the Covid pandemic created a "trifecta that was pretty dark."
Bullock shared that she began grieving Randall years before his passing. "I think where he was in his journey, both physically and mentally, I started grieving Bryan four years before he passed," she said. "My person left a lot earlier than the body left."
Randall died on August 5, 2023, at age 57. His family's statement, reported by both outlets, said he chose to keep his ALS journey private. They asked for privacy to grieve.
