Saoirse Ronan brushes off James Bond rumors swirling around husband Jack Lowden
Saoirse Ronan is keeping her husband, actor Jack Lowden, grounded amid persistent chatter that he's the next James Bond. Per Variety, Ronan told the Associated Press the topic isn't exactly a hot one at home.
"It's not really a subject that's coming up in our house to be honest; the dog needs to be walked, the dinner needs to be made," she said, according to the outlet.
Ronan noted that Lowden's 'Slow Horses' co-star Gary Oldman is a believer. "Well, Gary Oldman thinks [Jack] is James Bond which is its own thing," she said. The Hollywood Reporter also covered Ronan's remarks, where she added, "We're getting on with our life to be honest, we have plenty of other things to be dealing with."
The rumors gained steam last month when Oldman himself told a Canadian TV show that Lowden was rumored to be on the shortlist and that producers had made their choice. Oldman later walked those comments back, clarifying he only knew of a six-person shortlist.
Amazon MGM Studios, which now manages the Bond franchise, declined to comment on the casting speculation, per Variety. The next Bond film is set to be directed by Denis Villeneuve with a script by 'Peaky Blinders' creator Steven Knight.
