Saoirse Ronan wants to be the next James Bond villain
Saoirse Ronan is gunning for a spot in the James Bond universe, but not as the hero. Per JoBlo, the actress stated she is "dead serious" about wanting to play a villain in the franchise.
In an interview with Empire, Ronan said, "I want to go dark." She added that a young female antagonist would be an interesting dramatic challenge. "Especially for girls and women, to see someone who can just take all that pent-up anger and direct it somewhere," she explained.
The casting search for the next 007 continues, with several actors reportedly in the mix. Ronan's husband, Jack Lowden, is one of the names frequently mentioned for the role.
Longtime Bond casting director Debbie McWilliams commented on the qualities needed for 007. She said the actor must have a sense of threat, suggesting Pierce Brosnan lacked that edge while Daniel Craig brought a tougher persona.
Ronan's pitch adds a new twist to the ongoing speculation surrounding the future of the Bond series.
