Sega yanks Total War: Shogun 2 remaster from sale after backlash

Creative Assembly and Sega have removed the new Total War: Shogun 2 Complete Edition from Steam, according to IGN. The decision follows an immediate wave of player complaints about the remaster's quality.
Released earlier this month, the update promised visual upgrades but was met with accusations of shoddy AI upscaling. Players pointed to graphical errors, including a samurai's face replaced with a strange metallic texture and inconsistencies in new storyboard cutscenes.
Fan frustration was compounded by the removal of the original 2011 game from sale, forcing new buyers to purchase the $40 remaster. Those who paid for the upgrade have left overwhelmingly negative reviews on Steam.
In a joint statement reported by IGN, the companies said the release fell short of standards and that they are removing it from sale while investigating the issues. They plan to reinstate the original game for purchase. The statement also indicated their development partner, studio Mataboo, is involved in finding fixes.
