'Sicario 3' is officially on with Blunt, Del Toro, and Brolin returning

The cartel war is officially back on. According to a report from JoBlo, a third 'Sicario' film has been greenlit.
The outlet states that the core trio from the first two films is set to reunite. Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro, and Josh Brolin are all confirmed to be returning for the new installment.
Per the report, Padraic McKinley is on board to direct the sequel. He is taking over the reins from the previous films' directors, Denis Villeneuve and Stefano Sollima.
The script is being penned by Steven Knight, the writer behind projects like 'Peaky Blinders' and 'Spencer'. No plot details or a production start date were revealed by the outlet.
This news confirms a long-gestating project. A third 'Sicario' film has been discussed for years, with various writers and directors previously attached.
