Sony Drops Full Trailer for Aaron Sorkin's Facebook Whistleblower Film
The full trailer for Aaron Sorkin's new drama, "The Social Reckoning," has landed. Per Dark Horizons, the film is a companion piece to David Fincher's 2010 Oscar winner "The Social Network," with Sorkin both writing and directing this time.
The story follows Facebook engineer Frances Haugen, played by Mikey Madison, who teams up with Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz, portrayed by Jeremy Allen White. Their alliance kicks off a dangerous mission to expose the social media giant's deepest secrets.
The supporting cast includes Jeremy Strong as Mark Zuckerberg, alongside actors like Bill Burr and Betty Gilpin. Billy Magnussen and Wunmi Mosaku also feature in the film.
Inspired by Horwitz's real-life "Facebook Files" articles, the plot delves into the company's internal research on social media's harm to young users, the spread of misinformation, and its role in the 2021 U.S. Capitol riot. The movie is scheduled for release on October 9.
