Sony launches a slick new Midnight Black PS5 model

A new all-black version of the PlayStation 5 is on the horizon, but it's currently only for one market. Sony revealed the Midnight Black PS5 model overnight, per Push Square.

The console's outer casing and bundled DualSense controller both come in the new dark color. The model includes a disc drive, confirming it's not a digital-only variant.

For now, the release is a Japan exclusive. Sony has not announced any plans to bring the Midnight Black colorway to other regions.

The announcement clarifies that this is purely a cosmetic change. The internal hardware and specifications of the console remain identical to the existing PS5 models.
