Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Season 2 Dated for 2027, Adds Bill Nighy and Rosemarie DeWitt

The sophomore season of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is officially targeting a March 2027 launch. The Hollywood Reporter says the date was announced during a Paramount+ presentation at New York Comic Con this weekend.
Paramount also revealed that Bill Nighy and Rosemarie DeWitt will appear as guest stars. Nighy will play Nyk Ake, the estranged father of a character named Nahla. DeWitt is set to portray Laytha Sadal, the mother of a cadet named Tarima and the first lady of Betazed.
A new clip shown to the crowd focused on the cadets' first away mission, which takes an unexpected turn when a new arrival, Keats, crashes onto a planet. The cadets must race to retrieve crucial information from his pod.
Showrunner Alex Kurtzman teased another major sequence, likening a 'Nova Squadron' episode to 'Top Gun in space,' promising a long chase scene enabled by new technology.
Cast members also hinted at major character arcs. Holly Hunter mentioned she will play her character's twin sister. Robert Picardo said his character, The Doctor, will become a parent, an event that will 'forever change' the 800-year-old being.
