Star Wars Zero Company is being hailed as a promising XCOM-style tactics adventure

Early hands-on previews for Star Wars: Zero Company suggest the turn-based tactics game is shaping up nicely, according to IGN. Reporters got to play the first 10 hours of the campaign, praising its strategy depth despite some rough edges.

Multiple outlets are drawing strong comparisons to the XCOM series. VGC calls it "the XCOM revival we've been looking for," while Eurogamer bluntly states it will be brilliant "because XCOM is brilliant."

However, PC Gamer notes the game plays it very safe as an XCOM descendant, arguing its most interesting ideas might actually come from borrowing DNA from Marvel's Midnight Suns instead. The consensus is a solid, familiar tactics experience wrapped in a Star Wars skin.
