Starfield Modder Nails Seamless Takeoffs, Says Landings Are a No-Go

A Starfield modder is taking on one of the game's most criticized elements: the clunky transition between planet surfaces and space. Per IGN, they're working to make take-offs as smooth as possible, though they admit truly seamless landings 'probably won't ever happen' due to technical hurdles.

PC Gamer reports the mod aims to bring a No Man's Sky-style fluidity to launching into orbit. Early beta footage shows the sequences already looking pretty impressive, cutting out the jarring black screens and load pauses.

The effort highlights a persistent fan desire to fix what many see as a core disappointment in Bethesda's space epic, even as the developer itself has moved on to other projects.
