Stephen Chow's Kung Fu Soccer kicks off with $74 million China debut

Stephen Chow is back with a box office boot. His new film 'Kung Fu Soccer' scored a mighty $74 million in its first two days in Chinese theaters, per The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie marks Chow's first directorial effort in seven years. It's a spinoff of his 2001 hit 'Shaolin Soccer' and is already projected to earn over $350 million in its home market.

Plans for a U.S. release are reportedly still in the works. For now, the comedy is dominating the field in China.
