Stephen Curry doc on 4,000 three-pointers gets Imax release in October
A documentary capturing the day Stephen Curry sank his 4,000th career three-pointer is heading to the biggest screens. According to The Hollywood Reporter, 'Portrait of an Artist: Stephen Curry' will open exclusively in Imax theaters starting October 9.
The ESPN Films project zeroes in on the single game where the Golden State Warriors star needed just two threes to hit the historic milestone, which came against the Sacramento Kings. The film was shot at San Francisco's Chase Center using 21 of Imax's own cameras.
Directed by Gotham Chopra, the documentary aims to frame Curry's on-court artistry alongside commentary from other creative giants. Per the report, the film weaves in perspectives from artists like Viola Davis, musician Rick Rubin, poet Patti Smith, and composer Jon Batiste.
The project is a production from Imax, Religion of Sports (founded by Chopra, Tom Brady, and Michael Strahan), Unanimous Media, and NBA Entertainment.
