Steven Soderbergh steps in for Matt Reeves to finish The Batman Part II shoot

An Oscar-winning director is taking the reins for the final stretch of a major superhero sequel. According to Variety, Steven Soderbergh is stepping onto the set of "The Batman Part II" to oversee the last weeks of filming.
This move comes as the film's original director, Matt Reeves, remains on a hiatus due to a personal family matter. Per the reports, Soderbergh volunteered to assist after production was paused earlier this month.
The studio confirmed the arrangement, stating Soderbergh will work with the cast and crew to ensure the new footage matches Reeves's vision for the project. Soderbergh himself called Reeves's work on the first "Batman" film "stunning" and said his goal is to deliver material that Reeves can use to finish the movie.
Reeves clarified on social media that he is not leaving the project. He expressed gratitude to Soderbergh for the help, confirming he plans to return for post-production. The film, starring Robert Pattinson, is currently scheduled for release in February 2028.
