Survivor 51 reveals 21 new castaways for unpredictable 'Open Era'
The cast for Survivor's 51st season is official, and they're all rookies. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the 21 new players will compete in what host Jeff Probst has called the 'Open Era,' where any past twist or advantage could suddenly reappear.
The season is set to premiere on CBS with a two-hour episode on September 23, according to TVLine. Episodes will then revert to a 90-minute format the following week.
The cast, ranging in age from 24 to 49, features a wide array of professions. Highlights reported by both outlets include a professional wrestler, a voice actress from The Boys, a federal prosecutor, a baseball executive, and a sociology professor.
Other contestants include a chef, a criminal defense attorney, a medical student, a livestock farmer, and a game designer. The full roster was unveiled by CBS and Probst in a YouTube livestream.
The new players will compete for the $1 million prize under the unpredictable new rules, where nothing from the show's long history is off the table.
