System Shock 2 Anniversary Remaster Free on Epic Games Store

The Epic Games Store is giving away the System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster for free, per IGN. The offer is available until October 8, 2026. Once claimed, the game remains in a user's library permanently.

Nightdive Studios, known for reviving classic games, released this remastered version in June 2025. The update modernizes the original game's visuals and gameplay while preserving its core design.

VGC reports the freebie is part of Epic's October lineup, which also includes Buried Stars this week. From October 8, Out of Sight and TerraScape will become the free offerings.

System Shock 2 is a sci-fi RPG-FPS hybrid from 1999. Players assume the role of an amnesiac soldier awakening on a starship overrun by mutants and rogue AI.

Kotaku notes the remaster is normally priced at $30. A free Epic Games account is required to claim the game.
