Taylor Sheridan says Yellowstone spin-off 6666 will 'never' happen
Creator Taylor Sheridan has officially put the kibosh on the long-rumored Yellowstone spin-off series set at the Four Sixes Ranch, known as 6666. Per multiple reports including /Film and TVLine, Sheridan made the definitive statement on the Rodeo Time podcast, saying, "There's never going to be one."
Sheridan explained his reasoning stems from a deep respect for the real-life Texas ranch, which he purchased with investors in 2021. He told the podcast he would never "fictionalize that ranch" by inventing characters and dramas for a TV show, as real cowboys and their families live and work there. "Now I'm trivializing and fictionalizing something where real people work and they raise their families there," he said, according to TVLine.
Collider notes that while the potential for a spin-off seemed built-in through the character of Jimmy Hurdstrom, played by Jefferson White, Sheridan felt turning it into a series would disrespect the actual ranch's legacy. Sheridan mentioned he has already compiled all of Jimmy's scenes at the Four Sixes from Yellowstone into a sequence that plays like "its own perfect little movie," showing the character's growth from a misfit to a respected cowboy.
The 6666 project had been in development at Paramount+ since a 2021 announcement, which touted the ranch's deep history in the American West. Despite that greenlight and a ready-made narrative path via Jimmy's storyline, Sheridan has now permanently shelved the idea. As Collider reports, he concluded that protecting the authentic brand of the working ranch was a responsibility he takes seriously.
