Taylor Sheridan shuts down Yellowstone spinoff 6666, says it's dead
The 6666 Ranch will not be getting its own Yellowstone series, according to creator Taylor Sheridan. Speaking on the Rodeo Time podcast, Sheridan confirmed the previously announced spinoff is officially dead, per JoBlo.
Sheridan, who is a part-owner of the real Texas ranch, said he never planned to make the show. "I would never fictionalize that ranch," he stated. He explained he did not want to invent drama for a working ranch where real people live and work, calling it a responsibility he takes seriously.
He noted that Jimmy Hurdstrom's storyline from Yellowstone season four, where the character is sent to the 6666, already tells a complete tale. Sheridan said he has edited those scenes into their own "perfect little movie" showing Jimmy's transformation.
While 6666 is off the table, the Yellowstone universe continues to expand with other projects. These include the prequels 1883 and 1923, plus the upcoming spinoffs Y: Marshals and Dutton Ranch.
