The Beast in Me renewed for season 2 with Claire Danes returning
Netflix is bringing back its drama The Beast in Me for a second season, according to a report from Variety. Star Claire Danes will return to play author Aggie Wiggs and executive produce.
Season 1 showrunner Howard Gordon has also signed a broader deal with Netflix to develop new series, per the outlet. For the show's sophomore run, Gordon will co-showrun alongside executive producer Daniel Pearle.
Gordon told Variety the team only wanted to continue if they found a story worthy of the first season. He expressed gratitude to Netflix and studio 20th Television for the chance to reunite the creative team.
The series was initially billed as a limited run and even campaigned in the limited series categories at the Emmys, where co-star Matthew Rhys won an acting award. TVLine notes Rhys's character was killed off in the first season finale and will not return.
Netflix executive Jinny Howe stated the streamer is excited to continue the story and to formalize a partnership with Gordon, crediting the show's global audience appeal and award recognition.
