The Blood of Dawnwalker caps console framerate at 40fps, disappointing fans
Console players hoping for a silky-smooth experience in The Blood of Dawnwalker are in for a disappointment. IGN reports that newly revealed footage shows the upcoming RPG will not have a 60fps performance mode on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X at launch.
According to the outlet, the game will target a maximum of 40 frames per second on both Sony and Microsoft's high-end consoles. This includes the more powerful PlayStation 5 Pro, which will offer enhanced visual quality but not a higher framerate. No performance details were given for the Xbox Series S.
The news has sparked frustration among some fans, with one quoted by IGN saying, "PC it is then, but you could've pushed for more on the Pro." With the game's combat centering on precise swordplay, the lower framerate is seen as a surprising limitation for a major 2026 release.
It is currently unknown if developer Rebel Wolves could patch in a 60fps mode after the game's scheduled September 3 launch. The RPG is set in 14th century Europe and casts players as a half-human, half-vampire named Coen.
