The Last of Us PS5 background drops ahead of franchise reveals
Naughty Dog has released a free animated background for PlayStation 5's Welcome Hub to celebrate The Last of Us Day, IGN reports. The background features artwork of Ellie from both mainline games, with animated elements like flying birds and lightning flashes.
According to both IGN and Push Square, PS5 owners can download the background by going to the Welcome Hub, selecting 'Change Background' in the top corner, and choosing the option from the Games tab. It's a free download that requires no purchase.
Naughty Dog teased on social media that the main announcements for the franchise's dedicated holiday will come on Monday, September 28. The studio promised a "partnership announcement, a very cool collaboration, digital surprises, and more" for that day, along with a charity Twitch stream.
In related news reported by IGN, the studio also announced new casting for HBO's The Last of Us Season 3. John Goodman will join the show as a new character named Joey, while Laura Bailey and Ian Alexander are set to return in new roles. Bailey, who voiced Abby in the Part 2 game, will play a Seraphite leader named Elizabeth.
Fans will have to wait until next week to see what else Naughty Dog has in store for the post-apocalyptic series.
