The Simpsons' 'Yellow Mirror' Disney+ Episode Drops Trippy Trailer
TVLine has the exclusive first look at a new Simpsons special heading to Disney+. The episode, titled 'Yellow Mirror,' will drop on the streamer on August 26.
The show is offering a twisted take on Black Mirror, promising two dark tales. Per Disney+, one story involves a broken lamp showing Homer a painful truth about his reality. The other follows an AI tablet that befriends and then takes control of baby Maggie.
The trailer, per TVLine, includes a flashback to Homer's high school days. A teenage Homer tells Barney his life is a lie, to which Barney offers a typically glum bit of consolation about the cafeteria menu.
We also see the AI villain, named Hailey, addressing Springfield's citizens with sinister politeness. The trouble starts when Marge uses a tablet to quiet Maggie, which Homer cheerfully calls finding the baby's 'off switch.'
TVLine also revealed exclusive key art. It features broken scenes including Homer drawing a memory, Maggie with the evil AI, a weathered Homer at a press conference, young Homer and Marge in school, and some unfriendly robot dogs.
This special is separate from the annual 'Treehouse of Horror' Halloween episode, which is still scheduled for Fox this fall as part of Season 38.
