The Witcher 3 expansion Songs of the Past will include more Gwent
CD Projekt Red has confirmed the upcoming expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Songs of the Past, will feature more of the in-game card game Gwent. Per IGN, the developer's community manager, Marcin Łukaszewski, replied to a fan on social media who hoped for more Gwent with a simple "Confirmed!"
Gwent first appeared within The Witcher 3 before becoming a standalone digital game and later a tabletop experience. IGN notes that the card game's blend of skill, bluffing, and deck construction kept many players returning long after the main story concluded.
The expansion is scheduled for release in 2027. This marks over a decade since the game's last major add-on, Blood and Wine, launched in 2016. According to the report, CD Projekt Red has teased that Songs of the Past will be a full-fledged story expansion that serves as a prologue.
More details about the expansion are imminent. IGN reports that the developer plans to share news during gamescom 2026's Opening Night Live, which is less than a day away.
