The Witcher 3 Remaster announced as a free September update
CD Projekt Red has announced a comprehensive remaster for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, launching September 29. According to VGC and ScreenRant, the upgrade will be free for everyone who already owns the game.
The announcement came during Gamescom's Opening Night Live, per VGC. The remaster promises visual upgrades, enhanced combat, improved traversal mechanics, and a revamped skill tree. It also adds transmogrification for gear and new combat finishers.
Eurogamer reports the remaster will include both existing expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, as part of the free upgrade. The outlet also notes that a new trailer for the upcoming expansion, Songs of the Past, closed the showcase.
According to Nintendo Life, the remaster is also confirmed for the Switch 2, launching on the same date. The outlet speculates that digital owners will likely get the free upgrade.
VGC adds that the upcoming Songs of the Past expansion, due in 2027, will be supported by the remaster but is not included in this September release.
