The Witcher 3 Remastered release times and file sizes confirmed
CD Projekt Red's massive free update for The Witcher 3 is almost here. The remastered version launches on September 29, bringing visual and gameplay overhauls to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and Nintendo Switch 2.
According to VGC, the update file sizes are roughly 45GB on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox, while the Switch 2 version is a separate download of about 50GB. Nintendo Life reports the actual pre-installed size on Switch 2 is slightly less, around 48.5GB.
PC Gamer notes there is no preload for the update on most platforms, except for Battle.net where the game is newly arriving. Switch 2 owners can pre-load the separate version now from the eShop.
For Switch 2, the process is different. Per Nintendo Life, players who own the original Switch version get the new edition for free, but must download it as a separate product, not as an automatic update. Physical copy owners can also claim their free upgrade starting on launch day.
CD Projekt Red provided a global rollout schedule. The update goes live at 5 AM PDT / 8 AM EDT / 1 PM BST on September 29, with other time zones listed in the official image. For those buying the game fresh on Switch 2, the price is set at $59.99.
