TikTok nukes Elon Musk documentary's promotional account right before wide release

The TikTok account created to promote the documentary 'Musk' was shut down just as the film entered its nationwide rollout, according to a report from TheWrap. A representative for distributor Bleecker Street told the outlet the platform issued a 'permanent suspension' on Friday.
TikTok reportedly cited unspecified violations of its political content policies as the reason for removing the account, which had over 10,000 followers. Bleecker Street says it was notified of the ban right before it happened.
The suspension adds to promotional headaches for the four-hour Alex Gibney film. The outlet notes that other platforms, including Elon Musk's own X, previously refused to run ads for the project. YouTube and Meta initially blocked ads but later reversed course after public criticism.
The documentary, which includes an intermission, explores the Tesla founder's personal life and his ascent to power. It features interviews with former partners, including Ashley St. Clair, who is quoted describing Musk as a 'nuke.'
Box office projections for the wide release are modest. Per industry estimates cited by TheWrap, the film is expected to gross around $297,000 across 472 theaters this weekend.
