True Detective Season 5 locks down Nicolas Cage and Antonio Banderas

True Detective has found its next pair of detectives. Per multiple outlets, Nicolas Cage and Antonio Banderas will lead the fifth season of HBO's anthology series.
Variety and The Hollywood Reporter confirm Cage will play Henry Logan, while Banderas is set to play Rai Garcia. Production is scheduled to begin in 2027.
Cage seemingly announced his involvement himself at New York Comic Con last week. The Hollywood Reporter notes he said, "I think I'm probably going to do another season of television. I think I might do a season of True Detective."
The new season will be set in Jamaica Bay, New York, according to Variety. Issa López, who served as showrunner on the Alaska-set fourth season "Night Country," will return in the same role for Season 5.
This marks a rare television lead role for Cage, whose last was in the Prime Video series "Spider-Noir." Banderas's recent credits include the Anthony Bourdain biopic "Tony."
