Tubi to Adapt R.L. Stine's 'The Babysitter' in 2027

Tubi is adding another R.L. Stine story to its slate. The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reveals that a live-action film adaptation of "The Babysitter" is set to premiere on the free streamer in 2027.

The movie will follow a 16-year-old babysitter named Jenny, who takes a job to pay for a writing program despite a prowler terrorizing her town. Her suspicion grows as she receives threatening calls and a dangerous fugitive surfaces.

According to the outlet, this is the fourth title in Tubi's ongoing partnership with Stine, following two "Pumpkinhead" films and the recently announced "Afraid of Clowns." Jem Garrard, who worked on "Pumpkinhead," will write and executive produce, with Trevor Calverley directing.

Tubi's Chief Content Officer Adam Lewinson said in a statement that Stine's stories are "scary, fun and endlessly entertaining," and called the novel one of the author's "most iconic." The announcement was made just days after "Pumpkinhead 2" debuted on the platform.
