TV Producer Jerry Golod, Known for 'Tales From the Darkside', Dies at 87

Jerry Golod, the producer behind the cult classic series "Tales From the Darkside," has died. He was 87.

According to Variety, Golod died following a brief battle with cancer this past Wednesday at his home in Rancho Mirage, California.

Golod's career spanned decades as an executive at CBS and NBC before he launched his own company, JayGee Productions. Per the report, he collaborated with director George Romero and producer Richard P. Rubinstein to create "Tales From the Darkside" after seeing the success of Stephen King's "Creepshow." The anthology horror series ran for four seasons.

He also helped launch the CBS adventure series "Adderly" and held top programming roles at both major networks. Later, he worked on a revival attempt for "Tales From the Darkside" and executive produced shows like the 1991 revival of "Land of the Lost."

Golod is survived by his wife, Ruth, their two children, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
