Unearthed Demon's Souls Prototype Shows Scrapped First-Person Mode

A slice of Souls history just got a lot weirder. New footage from a 2007 developer presentation, unearthed by famed dataminer Lance McDonald, shows Demon's Souls had a fully functional first-person camera mode in its prototype stage.

Per reports from IGN and Eurogamer, the scrapped feature looks like a completely different way to experience the brutal world of Boletaria. Imagine trying to parry a skeleton knight from that viewpoint.

Kotaku notes that while the find is fascinating, most fans will probably agree it's a good thing FromSoftware took a different path. The third-person perspective that defined a genre was clearly the right call.
