Universal Hits $5 Billion at Global Box Office in 2026
Universal Pictures has officially passed the $5 billion mark at the worldwide box office this year, The Hollywood Reporter states.
The studio is the first to reach that milestone in 2026. Its total haul so far includes $1.788 billion from domestic ticket sales and $3.218 billion from international markets.
According to the outlet, three of the year's five billion-dollar films are from Universal. These include Christopher Nolan's mythological epic 'The Odyssey,' 'The Super Mario Galaxy Movie,' and the Michael Jackson biopic 'Michael.'
The studio's record-breaking year was also boosted by other hits like 'Minions & Monsters' and Focus Features' horror film 'Obsession.'
Per the report, 'The Odyssey' now holds the title as Universal's top-earning film of all time, with global earnings exceeding $1.7 billion.
Universal's upcoming slate for the rest of the year includes new animated and live-action features, among them sequels to 'Violent Night' and 'Focker-in-Law,' plus fresh titles like 'Other Mommy' and 'Forgotten Island,' which opens this weekend.
