VisionQuest Surprise Debuts At NYCC With Rave First Reactions

Marvel shocked attendees by dropping the first episode of VisionQuest at the end of its New York Comic Con presentation on Thursday, per Variety.

The Disney+ series, set to premiere on October 14, sparked immediate positive buzz online as reactions poured in from fans and journalists. An embargo lifted right as the panel wrapped, allowing for a flood of initial impressions.

One reaction shared on X, from Nexus Point News' Demet Koc, called the show a "worthy successor to WandaVision" and said it "feels like a love letter to Wanda Maximoff." The post mentioned themes of love, grief, and generational trauma, and praised the dynamic between Tommy and Vision.

Agents of Fandom's TJ Zwarych wrote that the chemistry between Paul Bettany and James Spader is "off the charts," calling the show a worthy conclusion to a trilogy, though noting it "drags a bit in the middle." Panel co-host Brandon Davis also praised it on X as a "fantastic sequel" that is "smart, weird, ambitious, and creative."

The show features Bettany's Vision alongside a roster of Marvel AI characters, including James Spader's Ultron, Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., and a grown-up Tommy Maximoff played by Ruaridh Mollica.
