Insiders told the outlet this concept was among several Wizarding World projects in development for HBO Max. The idea has been a persistent fan request for years, with many hoping to see more of the father-of-Harry generation's backstory explored on screen.
The report suggests such a series would face creative challenges, including generating suspense when the characters' fates are already known. It would also have to navigate entrenched fan expectations, particularly around potential romantic relationships between characters like Sirius Black and Remus Lupin.
Any project would require sign-off from author J.K. Rowling, who retains significant creative control. The outlet notes her public statements in recent years have led some fans to boycott the franchise.
