Will Forte Says 'Coyote vs Acme' Reviews Make Him Feel Sane After Feeling Gaslit
Will Forte says the positive buzz around the rescued film Coyote vs Acme has been validating. The actor told The Hollywood Reporter he felt 'gaslit for a while' during the movie's long journey to the screen.
The Looney Tunes hybrid film, starring Forte and John Cena, was shelved by Warner Bros. Discovery in late 2023. Fan campaigns eventually led Ketchup Entertainment to save it, setting a summer 2026 theatrical release. Forte admitted he'd given up hope, crediting the fans entirely for the movie's survival.
'It's made me feel sane,' Forte said of the fan support and glowing early reviews. He noted that while he's proud of projects that got poor reviews, like MacGruber, he's happily embracing the praise this time. Forte called the film an underdog story, much like Wile E. Coyote's legal battle against the Acme Corporation.
John Cena added his hope that everyone who advocated for the film will now buy a ticket to see it. Director Dave Green expressed gratitude for every fan who spoke out, including a costumed Coyote who protested in the rain.
The movie, which had its LA premiere Wednesday, hits theaters this Friday.
