Witcher 3 Remaster and DLC Gameplay Revealed at Gamescom 2026
CD Projekt Red showed off nearly 20 minutes of fresh gameplay for The Witcher 3 Remastered and its new expansion, Songs of the Past, during its Gamescom 2026 stream, per VGC.
The footage, labeled a work in progress, included a horseback ride through the new DLC area of Letten and a look at a quest called A Bed of Thorns. The remaster is a free upgrade arriving on September 29, VGC reports.
Meanwhile, Eurogamer reports that the new DLC may introduce a fresh romance option for Geralt. During a hands-off demo, players saw Geralt meet Dandelion's cousin, Lilla, and an option to hug her appeared. When asked directly about a romance with Lilla, Fool's Theory CEO Jakub Rokosz coyly said the team didn't want to spoil anything.
Eurogamer also details that the story for Songs of the Past was written "years ago" by original Witcher 3 writers. The expansion is a co-development between CD Projekt Red and Fool's Theory and focuses on Geralt and Dandelion's relationship, aiming to give the bard a more fleshed-out role.
The DLC is scheduled for a 2027 release and is said to be similar in scope to the massive Blood & Wine expansion.
