Wonder Man creator says show was real, not a stunt
The abrupt cancellation of Marvel's "Wonder Man" series has its co-creator speaking out. Andrew Guest, the showrunner, used TikTok to tell fans that the project was fully underway before Disney+ pulled the plug.
Per Variety, Guest said "contracts were signed, schedules were cleared" and stressed, "This is not a marketing stunt." He thanked fans for their support and said he shared their disappointment.
The Hollywood Reporter notes the show was renewed for a second season in March, only for Disney+ to cancel that renewal in July. Star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II reacted to the news by quipping, "See you at the Emmys."
