World of Warcraft Forever Beta Passes 1 Million Characters Created

According to data reported by IGN, players have already created over a million characters inside the World of Warcraft Forever beta. The community site classicplus.io tracked the milestone, counting 1,003,125 characters made for the Classic Plus mode.

Access to the beta primarily requires purchasing a $60 'Skyborne' pack, making the character count notable. Despite being the race tied to that paid entry, the Skyborne elves are not the most popular choice, representing just 18.7% of creations.

For the Alliance, Human characters lead at 32.3%, while Horde players favor the Undead, who make up 33.5% of that faction's population. The beta currently restricts play, with a level cap of 30.

All progress from this testing phase will be erased ahead of the full game's arrival on November 4. IGN notes that developer Blizzard was reportedly shocked by the beta's early popularity, with one calling the figures 'the craziest numbers' they'd seen.

The report also mentions recent actions by Blizzard, including a crackdown on player names and gold selling, which has ensnared some streamers. Conversely, the developer added a fan-favorite quest, 'Kyle's Gone Missing,' to the beta.
