World War Z 2 Moves Forward with New Director Brad Pitt Back

A sequel to the 2013 zombie action film 'World War Z' is officially in the works, per MovieWeb. The project gained fresh momentum following the recent merger that formed Paramount Skydance, with studio leadership naming it a priority.

Director Edward Berger, known for 'All Quiet on the Western Front,' has been tapped to helm the film. Dennis Kelly, creator of 'Utopia,' is penning the screenplay.

Brad Pitt is set to reprise his role as Gerry Lane and will produce through his Plan B company. MovieWeb reports that Pitt began discussing the project with Berger while they collaborated on another film, with deals finalizing shortly before the announcement.

While specific story points and a production timeline remain under wraps, this marks the most concrete step forward for a sequel in over a decade. The original film grossed over $540 million globally.
