X-Files sequel gets R-rated director's cut as Ryan Coogler reboot heats up
The truth is still out there, and now it's a bit bloodier. Creator Chris Carter has confirmed the runtime for a new R-rated director's cut of 2008's "The X-Files: I Want to Believe," per ScreenRant.
Carter says he trimmed some original scenes for the new version, which reportedly clocks in ten minutes shorter than the theatrical release.
But don't expect a revelation. JoBlo's review of this 'Vrach Frankenshteyn' cut is brutal, claiming the restored material adds virtually nothing and cannot salvage what they call a mediocre movie.
This revamped sequel drops as a fresh take on the franchise gathers steam. JoBlo also reports that Ryan Coogler's reboot of the series is moving forward at Hulu, setting the stage for a potential Mulder and Scully-less future.
