Xbox CEO hints at more exclusives, but keeps Elder Scrolls 6's fate murky
Xbox CEO Asha Sharma is hinting that Microsoft might start locking more games down as platform exclusives again. But she's staying tight-lipped on whether that strategy will apply to the long-awaited Elder Scrolls 6.
Speaking to the BBC at Gamescom, Sharma argued that every gaming platform needs some exclusive content to stand out and grow. She suggested Microsoft is increasingly focused on finding the right balance for what makes sense as an exclusive versus a multiplatform release.
The conversation naturally turned to the elephant in the room: the next mainline Elder Scrolls game. According to GameSpot, when the BBC pressed Sharma directly on whether the RPG would be exclusive to Xbox and PC, the executive played coy and declined to give a straight answer.
Her non-committal response leaves fans of the blockbuster fantasy series on PlayStation consoles in the dark. It continues a years-long tradition of Microsoft and Bethesda being vague about the game's release plans, keeping the platform debate alive.
