Xbox Reportedly Grabs Exclusive Cloud Streaming Rights for GTA 6

Xbox has reportedly landed an exclusive deal to stream Grand Theft Auto VI via the cloud, according to a report from The Verge. The arrangement would let players stream the game on PC at launch, as well as on smart TVs and mobile devices, without needing an Xbox console.

Per The Verge, the deal is set to begin when the game releases in November, though its duration is unclear. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma allegedly told employees the company was planning something GTA 6-related that "no other platform holder is doing."

This streaming workaround could give PC players immediate access, though IGN notes it would lack the performance options, modding, and other features of a native PC port. Rockstar Games has not yet released a PC version of the game.

The report comes amid competition with PlayStation, which secured marketing rights for GTA 6. Rockstar has promoted the game using footage captured on PS5 hardware and stated the game will "play best" on that console, which will also have unique features.

IGN reports that Xbox CSO Matthew Ball recently denied claims that Xbox was concerned about GTA 6 pre-orders on its platform, stating the game was breaking records there. IGN has reached out to both Rockstar and Xbox for comment on the alleged streaming deal.
