Xbox sales for Resident Evil Requiem are just 8.6% of total, analysis shows

New sales data reveals a massive platform disparity for the latest Resident Evil blockbuster. According to analysis from Alinea Analytics reported by IGN, only 8.6% of Resident Evil Requiem's 8.5 million copies sold were for Xbox consoles. That translates to roughly 731,000 units.

The remaining sales were overwhelmingly dominated by PlayStation 5 and PC. The data shows 48.1% of copies, or about 4.01 million, were sold on PS5. Steam accounted for 43.4%, equating to around 3.69 million copies.

This comes as the game's total revenue has surpassed $500 million. The report contextualizes this split with other industry trends, noting a recent claim that Grand Theft Auto VI preorders are also heavily skewed toward PS5, which reportedly caused concern at Microsoft.

Xbox leadership has pushed back on that narrative for GTA VI. Xbox chief strategy officer Matthew Ball stated the company is "very happy" with record-breaking preorders that match its market share, per IGN. However, the Requiem data suggests Xbox sales may lag behind even the console's installed base, presenting another challenge for the platform.
