Xbox unleashes an 18-minute Fable gameplay deep dive showing Bowerstone life
Xbox has dropped a meaty 18-minute look at gameplay for the upcoming Fable reboot, according to a report from VGC. The footage was shown as part of Gamescom 2026.
The video, narrated by Playground Games art director Conar Cross, follows the hero through the capital city of Bowerstone. Scenes include a visit to the player's home, which houses a spouse and child.
VGC details several new revelations from the demo. The city is populated by 400 non-player characters, each with their own residence, daily routines, distinct personality, and full voice acting. Players can reportedly speak with any of them.
The showcase also featured a quest called 'The Last of the Greats,' involving a character named Humphry the Golden. A separate post on Xbox Wire outlined the combat, confirming the return of the Strength, Skill, and Will system for melee, ranged, and magic attacks.
That post also listed several magical abilities available for use, including projectiles, electrical strikes, a conjured blade, telekinetic moves, a charging dash, a forceful shove, and a spell called Befowl.
Fable is scheduled for release on February 23, 2027. VGC notes the game was previously delayed into that year.
