Yellowstone sequel Marshals returns for season 2 this weekend

The Yellowstone universe expands again this Sunday, October 4, with the return of the sequel series Marshals. According to Collider, Luke Grimes is back as Kayce Dutton for the show's second season.

Marshals is a CBS procedural that spun off from Taylor Sheridan's flagship drama. The outlet notes that the show's first season was met with harsh reviews, calling it a "dim procedural" that lacked the narrative spark of Yellowstone.

Despite the critical reception, the franchise continues to dominate Paramount's slate. Sheridan has delivered other shows this year, including the neo-Western companion piece The Madison and a third season of the espionage series Lioness.

Collider reports that Sheridan's day-to-day involvement with the Yellowstone franchise is now limited as he begins a creative partnership with NBCUniversal. The legacy of his work at Paramount, however, remains immense.
