Zoe Saldaña Fought Taylor Sheridan and Won Lioness Finale Fight
Zoe Saldaña says she battled creator Taylor Sheridan over a major character decision in the Paramount+ series *Lioness*. According to a TVLine report, Saldaña kept pushing Sheridan on the fate of her character Joe’s marriage throughout season three.
The season three finale, titled “The Unraveling,” saw Joe return home from a kidnapping ordeal to find a “For Sale” sign and learn her husband Neal had left with their kids. Per TVLine, Saldaña told Entertainment Weekly she repeatedly called Sheridan while he was writing, arguing that Neal would have to put his children first and leave given the violence threatening their home.
Saldaña said she and Sheridan had "little micro-disagreements" about it. "He believes in their love and that their love can withstand and survive everything," she said. She expressed gratitude that Sheridan ultimately "gave Neal the strength to leave her in order for him to make a point."
While *Lioness* awaits a season four renewal, Saldaña hopes this isn't the end for Joe and Neal. She described them to EW as “like doves, they mate for life,” and said she selfishly wouldn't want their story to end that way if the show returns.
