Zona Merah: Dead City teaser drops ahead of 2027 release

The first teaser for the Indonesian zombie movie "Zona Merah: Dead City" is out, per Variety. The film is set to hit Indonesian cinemas on January 14, 2027.

Producer Screenplay Films is calling this the biggest zombie production ever mounted in Indonesia. The movie is based on the Vidio original series of the same name, which has reportedly racked up over 34 million views.

The film reportedly expands the scope of the outbreak from the series' rural settings into urban chaos. The teaser shows the action moving into city streets, a mall, and an airport.

Director Sidharta Tata, who returns alongside co-director Fajar Martha Santosa, said the production filmed across three cities with hundreds of extras. Several cast members from the series are returning, with new additions including Bryan Domani, Shindy Huang, and executive producer Luna Maya. International sales are being handled by Barunson E&A.
