People are very positive about this long-running travel show, especially praising its stunning visuals and offering a fresh, original look at Japan beyond the guidebooks. While host Bill Sullivan's narration is a constant, reactions to specific hosts and locations vary wildly; some visitors, like Kyle Card, really didn't connect with viewers at all. The destinations themselves are a mixed bag, with places like Koyasan and the Thatched Roof Village getting strong praise, but several other featured towns and regions, from Hokkaido to Kanazawa, left people cold. It's a solid pick for armchair travel, as long as you're okay with the host and location quality being a bit of a gamble from episode to episode.
