Splat scores of enemies and hunt for treasure in this single-player focused action shooter. Play as a mechanic working with Deep Cut – a trio of swashbuckling musicians – and venture out into the mysterious Spirhalite Islands! Customize your character, kit yourself out with mechanical gadgets and ink-splattering weapons, and take on waves of foes called Salmonids as you raid the islands for salvage. This is mainly a single-player adventure, but you won’t be alone: one member of Deep Cut will raid alongside you in a powerful bot. You can also join with up to three other players online or via local wireless.
Splatoon Raiders is a solid single-player adventure where you raid islands with Deep Cut, and most people are enjoying the core loop. The gameplay is a clear highlight, with fun weapon customization and the bot companion working well, and the multiplayer option gets good marks too. The main complaints are about the difficulty being frustratingly high for some and performance on the Switch 2 being a noticeable letdown with frame drops. It's a good time for fans of the style, but be ready for a challenge and some technical hiccups.
