Tenebris Somnia

2026 · PEGI 3 · Adventure, Indie
Tobías Rusjan · PC · PS5 · Xbox Series X|S · Switch 2 · Switch

Tenebris Somnia is a horror adventure in the same vein as survival horror classics like Silent Hill or Resident Evil, but transferred to a retro 2D environment more typical of the N.E.S. or Famicom. You will struggle to survive by solving puzzles and fighting horrible creatures. The secret ingredient of the game is its cinematics. When you reach certain key points you will see sequences with a completely different aesthetic, made in live action with real actors and created by a professional film crew.

Pre-release sentiment

Tenebris Somnia is a retro 2D horror adventure from Tobías Rusjan, pitched like Silent Hill and Resident Evil with NES-style visuals plus live-action FMV cutscenes, and people are mostly into it from the footage so far. The look is the big win, with the pixel art and live action sequences landing hard enough to carry the buzz, while gameplay, story, and the demo get plenty of warm chatter. It's slated for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and Switch, but platform talk is cooler, with some PC, Steam, and Switch concerns and only lukewarm Switch 2 excitement. Performance and difficulty barely get discussed, so the main friction seems to be whether the value and rollout feel worth it, not whether the game looks or plays right.
